We want to start by thanking you for your partnership and supporting a great start to the school year. It is hard to believe we are already into October. Despite all the unique circumstances this year has brought, the resilience of our students, staff and community has proven to be our greatest strength. As you are aware, we feel honored and privileged that you have chosen to send your students to our school. We do not take this lightly and feel an obligation to ensure your students receive top quality instruction in a safe and collaborative culture.
Starting on Thursday, October 7, we will be officially implementing new routines and procedures to ensure we are maximizing learning for your student. These procedures have been discussed with your student through a Google slide presentation by your student’s teachers and over the intercom by Mrs. Pino. These procedures are specifically focused on expectations in the hallway and attendance.
Our vision is “Every Learner, Future Ready.” For us to deliver on this vision, we need every student in class when the bell rings/at the start of class, ready for learning. Every minute out of class is a missed opportunity for learning at a time when we cannot afford to lose out on instruction. Our expectations are as follows and our theme is “Respectful, Responsible, and Safe”:
- Students are expected to be in class, on time, ready to learn.
- Students are expected to have a pink pass out and visible when they are in the hallway.
- Students are expected to identify themselves to all staff members while in the hallway, showing them their pass.
- Students should not be in the hallway longer than 5 minutes unless pre-approved by the staff member writing the pass. This should be indicated on the pass.
- Students should demonstrate safety by keeping their hands, feet, and objects to themselves.
- Students should demonstrate respect by using school appropriate language.
- Students will not be allowed out of class the first or last 10 minutes of class so hallways can be cleared and attendance taken.
Students not meeting the above expectations will be asked to make up 30 minutes of instructional time after school. In the event this occurs, RCCBA staff will notify you prior to the student staying. Students refusing to serve this time will be ineligible to return to school until they arrive with a parent or guardian to reschedule their lost instructional time.
We want to thank you in advance for your support and guidance as we work to enhance learning in our space. These policy changes are solely intended to promote student safety and ensure students are accessing the quality instruction being provided in our classrooms, and align with our district movement to prevent any further learning loss during and post COVID.
We believe in your students and are committed to seeing them succeed. If you have any questions, please reach out to our team at 319-558-2153. As always, we value and appreciate your partnership.
